Abilene is located between Salina and Junction City. It had a number of rail lines, including a north/south Santa Fe branch line, an east/west Union Pacific line, and a Rock Island line.
Today, the ATSF is a BNSF branch line, while the UP is still UP. The RI has become part of a tourist train line.
